Refurb Launch Monitors: 6 Picks I Tested, $180-$500

Best for: Senior golfers and anyone who hates apps at the range.
The SC300i has a built-in screen and voice output. It reads carry distance aloud after every shot. No phone. No pairing. No reading glasses. Five metrics: carry, swing speed, ball speed, smash factor, launch angle.
Refurbished pricing ranges from $180 at Golfetail to $250 direct from Voice Caddie (2-year warranty). New is $399. Savings: $150 to $220.
What does not work: No lateral data. Tells you distance, not direction. Fine at the range where you see ball flight. Useless into a net. Only five metrics. No simulator capability.
Verdict: Buy it if range feedback without tech friction appeals. The voice output is genuinely useful. You never look at a screen. At $180, it costs less than most drivers.
4. FlightScope Mevo $299: Most Accurate Radar Under $300
Best for: Budget golfers who want pro-grade radar accuracy.

What does not work: No simulator capability. No lateral data. Phone required. Needs 6 feet behind the ball for setup. Discontinued product with no new firmware updates.
Verdict: Worth it if accuracy matters more than features. $299 for radar accuracy no other device under $500 matches. But it is a range tool only.
5. Garmin Approach R10 $408: The Safe, Familiar Pick
Best for: 10-25 handicap golfers who want the most complete data set.
The R10 tracks 15 data points, supports 42,000+ virtual courses, and works with every major sim platform. PlayBetter’s Garmin-certified CPO at $408 includes a 1-year warranty. New: $499-$599.
What does not work: Savings are smaller. $408 vs $499 new is about $90 off. That’s not the 40-60% discount SkyTrak and SC300i deliver. Spin data is algorithm-calculated indoors. Lateral error can be 15 yards off on shot direction.
Verdict: Buy it for the safest refurbished bet. The R10 is the best all-around consumer launch monitor, and $408 with a full warranty is fair. But if you want maximum savings per dollar, the SkyTrak at $500 gives more accuracy for $92 more.
6. Rapsodo MLM $199: Skip the Refurb
Best for: iOS users wanting the cheapest possible launch monitor data.
The MLM is Rapsodo’s entry-level phone-based unit. Six basic metrics using your iPhone camera and radar. New price has dropped to $199. Rapsodo sells refurbished units for the same $199. There is no savings.
What does not work: iOS only. Outdoor only. Phone must dock on the ground behind the ball every shot. No club path, no simulator.
Verdict: Skip the refurb. Buy new if you must. At identical pricing, there is no reason to buy pre-owned. Honestly, save another $200 and get the SC300i.
What to Watch For When Buying Used
Battery life. Radar units (R10, Mevo, SC300i) have lithium batteries with finite lifespans. A used unit that dies after 30 minutes at the range is not a deal. Ask before buying.
Warranty coverage. Manufacturer CPO units include warranties (90 days to 2 years). eBay units do not. The warranty is worth the price difference.
Inventory is limited. CPO stock rotates. SkyTrak and FlightScope CPO units sell out and reappear. If the model you want is not listed, check back.
